How to get the best vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Make a plan and pick the perfectvacation home:
- Choose a group leader, select your dates, and select a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. 1774 Ocean Lakes Pet Friendly Golf Cart????????????????????????? has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is best for your family.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
