Strategies for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the best vacation home:
- Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Updated Home
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
Additional considerations:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
