How to get the best vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to pick the best rental:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Summer 2025 now booking! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you love, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
