Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to select the perfect vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Waterfront condo, close to golf and beach 16G has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
