Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Waterside Paradise Suite with Views 15th Floor has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you love, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
