Tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To book the largest vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking the bestrental:
- To start, have your group choose trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Wave's Edge: Four Bdrm Oceanfront Condo 17th Floor has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. message the host immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
