Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Winter Rates! CoastalSerenity 1Br Oceanfront Suite has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
During your stay:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
