How to book the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, consider changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local tours and attractions.
How to choose the best vacation home:
- First, have your group decide on vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. World Tour Golf Resort #105 - Golf Course Front has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
