Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the most suitable rental within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. 2 Bedroom 2 Bath unit New to Rentals. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
