Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation rental experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try shifting your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose the perfect vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. you'll love it! Central location, cute and quiet has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
