How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and picking the best Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- To start, have your family choose the best dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Oceanfront Paradise Three-Bedroom Condo 7th Floor has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is best for your vacation.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
More considerations:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
