How to find the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Selecting the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. OCEAN FRONT - 2 bedroom with AMAZING VIEW in DOWNTOWN MYRTLE BEACH!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is best for your family.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your agreement.
More considerations:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
