Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. Book your Myrtle Beach rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Your BEST Beach Vacation EVER! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Tips to have a great stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
