Tricks and tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the perfect rental home:

  • To start, have your family commit to vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Ocean Lakes Beautiful Beach House OCEAN VIEW & LAKEFRONT on Magnolia Lake MH-9B has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
