Tips and Tricks for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose your vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 6D PERFECT for Picky People! Fabulous OCEANFRONT! W&D! ENJOY 10% OFF NOW! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your trip.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
