Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.
Make a plan and choose your prefectvacation home:
- Start by selecting your trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. ?? Myrtle Beach Serenity - Minutes to Beach & Golf! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
