Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips:
Get the best value:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Finding the perfect rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanfront,Heated Pools,Views New, Penthouse Level has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your agreement.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
