Strategies to get the optimal rental home experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to pick the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 10th-floor oceanfront condo with unique beach views, hot tubs, pools, lazy river has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
