Getting the best vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to select the perfect vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Start by having your group choose dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 10th-floor oceanfront studio with AC, pool, & hot tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
