Strategies for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach rental experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by choosing your trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 10th-floor oceanfront studio with AC, pool, & hot tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Have a great stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
