Tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
How to choose the best rental:
- Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 10th-floor oceanfront studio with AC, pool, & hot tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before reserving your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
