Our top Rental home tips and tricks:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- To find the best value, try shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose and book a perfect Myrtle Beach rental:
- Start by having your family decide on dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. 10th-floor oceanfront studio with pool, hot tub, & AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
During your stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
