Tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental home:
- First and foremost, have your family select a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. New, King Suite @ Caravelle Resort, Direct Views! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before you book the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is right for your group.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
