How to book the best vacation property experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Selecting and booking the right Myrtle Beach rental home:
- To start, have your family select vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. 12th floor, newly renovated ocean-view studio with AC, pool & hot tub access & WiFi has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you crave, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. text the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
