Finding the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • Book your rental in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by selecting the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 10th-floor studio with AC, pool, & hot tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If not, email or call the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

During your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
