Our top Vacation rental home tips:
How to get the best value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your rental property in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to pick the perfect rental:
- Select your vacation dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 10th-floor studio with AC, pool, & hot tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If not, reach out to the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is suitable for your vacation.
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Have a wonderful stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
