Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best rental within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to pick the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. 10th-floor studio with AC, pool, & hot tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If not, email the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your family is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. text the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many difficulties.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
