Strategies to get the perfect rental experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the best vacation home:
- To start, have your group select dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 11th-floor beachfront condo with beach views, balcony, hot tubs, pools, gym has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If not, call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
