Tricks and tips to get the best rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
Selecting and booking the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Gone Coastal 3 BR Direct Oceanfront Condo with Pool has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your contract.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Advice for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
