Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental home experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Make a plan and pick a perfectvacation home:
- Begin by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Oceanfront condo on 14th-floor w\/ WiFi, shared pool\/hot tub, AC - snowbirds okay has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
