Tricks and tips for getting the best rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Reserve your rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning and choosing the perfectrental home:
- Choose dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 15th-floor ocean-view studio with WiFi, pool, hot tub & AC - dog-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is right for your family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
During your stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
