Booking the best vacation home experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To book the best rental home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting and booking the best Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Oceanfront snowbird-friendly condo with beach views, hot tubs, pools, lazy river has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before booking the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
During your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
