Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation property experience:

Getting the best value:

  • Reserve your rental in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • To start, have your family decide on a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. 16th Flr: Oceanfront Jr Executive Suite has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, email the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Have a great stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
