Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing and booking a perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. 17th-floor ocean-view studio with AC, pool, hot tub & WiFi - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation family.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
