Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose and book the rightrental:
- Select dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. 18th-floor oceanfront condo with W\/D, pool, hot tub, & AC - snowbird-friendly has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is best for your trip.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
