Tips to get the best vacation home experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Book your Myrtle Beach rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 1980 Lark 2 bedroom 2 bath pier home - Catch The Breeze has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your family.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
