Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To book the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Finding the best vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. 3rd-floor studio with pool, hot tub, & AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your family.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
