How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Select your vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 3rd-floor studio with pool, hot tub, & AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your invoice.
Know before you go:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
