Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental home experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. 2 Bed, 2 Bath Coral Cottage—Walk to the Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your group.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
