Vacation rental home tips:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to select the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- First, have your group select a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. One-of-a-Kind Oceanfront, Designer Furnished, Luxury Condo w\/ Resort Amenities has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
