How to book the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose and book a perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Select vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. 2nd Floor Oceanfront Snowbird Friendly Condo w\/ WiFi, W\/D, Shared Pool\/Hot Tub! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you love, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More considerations:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
