Tricks and tips for getting the perfect rental experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Planning and choosing a perfect Myrtle Beach rental:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Rudy's Reel 'Em Inn of Surfside has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
