Getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:

When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local tours and attractions.

How to choose the perfect rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Begin by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Rudy's Reel 'Em Inn of Surfside has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is right for your group.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
