Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Finding the best value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First and foremost, have your family choose trip dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. 3BR\/3BA Ocean View-Just Updated! King\/King\/Queen + Sleeper Sofa-Beach Locker! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is best for your trip.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
