Tricks and tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting and booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. 3BR\/3BA Oceanfront-All New & Gorgeous! + Beach Locker! Book Early for Best Dates has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
