Tricks and tips for getting the best vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing the best vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Choose your vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. 3rd-floor oceanfront studio with central AC, pool, & hot tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More considerations:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
