Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose yourvacation home:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 4br Presidential Condo Luxury Family Fun on Beach! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If not, reach out to the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Have a great stay:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
