Strategies to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:

  • Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanfront Luxury Four Bedroom Condo 15th Floor has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Upon arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many difficulties.
  • Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
