Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by having your family select vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. 4br Presidential Condo Luxury Family Fun on Beach! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your group.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your contract.
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
