Strategies for getting the best vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- To get the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- To start, have your group select the best dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. OCEANFRONT 5BR\/3B Just a few steps to beach! Great views has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
