Strategies for getting the best vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the largest rental home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental home:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 4th-floor ocean-view studio with AC, WiFi, pool & hot tub - dogs OK has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your family.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
