Finding the best vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on local tours and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. 4th-floor ocean-view studio with AC, WiFi, pool & hot tub - dogs OK has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the host before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you long to visit, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Advice for your stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
