Strategies to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the largest rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the perfect rental home:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 4th-floor oceanfront studio with AC, pool, & hot tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If not, call the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
