Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the perfect rental home:
- First, have your family decide on date ranges and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Anderson Ocean Club, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club - Studio Ocean\/Water View has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If not, call the host before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you long to visit, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
