Tricks and tips to get the very best rental home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- To get the best value, shift your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides have deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning, selecting, and booking the best Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Choose dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 5 BEDROOM, 3.5 BATHROOM ON STILTS, 200 YARD WALK TO BEACH! has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, email the host before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
