Strategies to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose and book your prefectvacation home:
- First, have your group agree to the best dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 5th Flr Elegance: Spacious 2 Bedroom Ocean Views has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to drive new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
